I really do love this movie.... Does someone wanna make me a Slim Russian? I think I could use one this arvo... lol.
So I worked out my gauge issues. I'm using a needle that I think is at least one whole size smaller than recommended. I've finished the back piece and it looks great- I think the sizing will be spot on. I'm waiting for a decent chunk of 2 - 3 hours to get started on the front piece that has a lot of lace and shaping.... so excited. This is one cute top.

Gauge issues... grrr!
OMG yeah, gauge issues... just a little bit frustrating.... I've started knitting up my Cotton (not) Bam Boo Little Shell top and the sizing is a little out of wack. I did get gauge on my swatch though so I think I'm just ending up a little loose on the actual garment. I've worked on another couple of swatches to decide what size needles to go with... I'm just taking my time with the actual decision and whether to frog the work I've already done or not.
In the meantime I've been doing a little spinning. I'm finding it a nice way to let go of my mind at the end of the working day. Just last week a great package of spin goodies arrived from Mandie at EGMTKs that I'm pretty excited about. Maybe there will be some spinnin' with my Jenny this week!
Last night I went to Sophie's mini hen's night. We're having the real hen's in a couple of weeks time but there were a few people who couldn't make it then- hence the mini-hen's. First up we went and saw Rocknrolla. Ritchie's films are so richly stylised.... I really enjoyed it. Then we made our way to a lovely suite in Braddon and mix mix mixed up some delicious cocktails! It was a lovely evening outside last night and luckily we had a great big balcony on which to perch with our drinks and chatter. It was a sweet party- can't wait for the next one!
Unfortunately my bridesmaid'en duties meant I couldn't make Immi and Masi's birthday party today : ( 4 is an important bday too! What am I talking about, all bday's are important! I hope they had a lovely lovely time at the park. I've been on a bit of an Origami bender lately and have hundreds of tiny colourful paper stars. I decided to give the kids a simple little star necklace each that I threaded into their bday cards- I really hope they like them. I really miss those cute littlies. Maybe I'll get some photos of the bday prince and princess and their necklaces.. I hope my Mum took some photos!

"Monday Monday.......
so good to me..... "
What better day of the week to blog?

I'm starting to swatch up for a cute looking free pattern from Classic Elite Yarns, the Cotton Bam Boo Little Shell Top. I think this pattern and I are going to have a very long-term relationship: These days I knit at night when I get from home at work and I get about an hour of knitting in after dinner before my eyes are too tired to go on, or before I get too distracted by whatever show I've put on in the background. At the moment there's a lot of Rome, L Word and Futurama in the house.
I'm using Jo Sharp Soho Summer cotton in the colour currant. SO pretty. It's a gorgeous dark grape colour. I'd love to sit down this weekend for a good two or three hours and really get a good start on the pattern. However I have three garments to block and seam- eeep. One of them is the beautiful cardigan I knit up about two years ago in Lancaster- the fact that I haven't blocked and seamed yet at this point demonstrates just how long I can procrastinate!
Adieu.
